Half Way Through The Tour
It's been 9 days since we arrived in Oregon, meaning it's 8 days 'til we leave.
That sucks.
Don't get me wrong - we're having an AMAZING time. That's why it sucks that we're already half way through our trip. More amazing times will be had this next week, and then on the east coast on our way home after that; our hearts are full to the brim and there's even more to attempt and stuff in there!
I'm not going to try and list all the people we've now met in the flesh this past week who we've come to know and love over the past 18 months via Twitter & blogs, not to mention plenty more that we didn't know via any means prior to our journey either. But I must make special note of why we're here in the first place, and that's to share in one of the most inspirational stories of God's goodness, grace, mercy, restorative power and just plain LOVE ever : Brian & Jenni Clayville's marriage vow renewal ceremony held here in Lincoln City, Oregon (where, at the very moment I type, most of the rest of the house of rabid Lost watchers are consuming the finale show. I'm not rabid).
Jenni posted the vows they shared as part of the beautiful ceremony officiated by Mark Stegall. I did pretty well in not crying (much), but I did end up the subject of a very "interesting" photo that Joshua took as Brian & Jenni kissed at the conclusion of the ceremony. I was standing with Brian in the wedding party as best man, which is how I ended up in the shot, but I probably shouldn't have teased you with all that information about it because I don't have access to the photo ;)
After most people had gone on Sunday afternoon and only one house of awesome remained, Jenni asked us to try and paint some word pictures of highlights and lowlights from the weekend. Lowlights were really nothing more than the fact the weekend is ending, and we all failed dismally in choosing highlights because it's been one long (yet too short) highlight. Still, here's my attempt to list just a few highlights:
- Brian & Jenni's vows - truly some of the most beautiful words ever spoken. I may be biased, but...I'm right.
- Diane's & my "Beloved" photo shoot with Josh. Can't wait to see the pictures, and I hope they reflect how much fun we had.
- Meeting people for the "first" time.
- Playing with Chance & Paxton on the deck before sunset on Saturday.
- Late night discussions fuelled by passion...and perhaps a little inebriation. What?
And now, some totally random pics (not many...I let other people do the photo thing...I just seem to take pics of kids, scenery & menus) and a compilation video of randomness for your viewing, but mainly aural (towards the end) pleasure. Maybe.
